Hello. Firstly I'd like to draw your attention the the NEVIS BUNGY JUMP that me, Moore and Rick did on friday. Fuelled mainly by adrenaline (but also 2 glasses of wine) we got the bus to the jump after having booked it the day before so we couldn't back out! Our plan to write messages on the back of our t-shirts backfired when we were told we needed to wear safety harenesses (this is sooo not how the south american's would do it)...so as we were last in the queue we snuck back to get the dudes to put our tops over them...this way I got to say 'hi mum' as I plunged 134m to my almost death, haha!!! Actually, believe it or not the only scary part was the moment the dudes in charge said 'GO' when you have to dive off the platform. Oh and Rick might agree that subsequently not being able to pull the red cord was pretty frightening for a second, but all was put right after being dragged back up by our feet!! So there you go, I now know how it feels to free fall for 8 seconds into a river...and I LIKED IT!!!!
Other activities in Queenstown - not much I'm afraid! Being rinsed for money by the the bungy, we've just enjoyed the last few days just chilling (we've become quite attached to a certain carpark space, not to mention a public toilet with space ship locks!), enjoying being somewhere for more than one day. Not that we don't love being in Donde (the campervan), it's just nice to get your bearings somewhere without moving straight on, and we all love Queenstown so here was definately the right place do it. On Saturday we had a little night out and went to World Bar where we had cocktails out of teapots!
Before we arrived here we stopped at Fox Glacier and did a half day hike up to it and wore crampons so we could walk into the middle. As you got closer to the centre the ice got more blue which was really pretty (I should really ask Chris why this is)! While we were up there we suddenly heard a loud thundery noise which I initially thought was a helicopter...however it was actually falling rocks at the side of the glacier (see pics), thank god it wasn't near our path back down!
Today it's time to move on again and after a quick stop at the supermarket and petrol station we're heading off into the remote again towards MILFORD SOUND. Mine and Rick's hopes of doing the MIlford Track have been shattered by the Department Of Conservation who said there's 'high avelanche danger at this time of the year', blah blah blah, again - in south america this just wouldn't be a problem!!! So wish us luck in the Fiordlands, I hope we don't get snowed in!!!
