And so the trip begins. And with that, our blog begins.
If we're being truthful, we shed a few tears as we waved goodbye to the English coastline en route to our first destination of India (stopping off for a few hours in Helsinki so we can include 'Europe' in our list of continents we're checking off).
Our first (proper) point of call - smelly Delhi. Totally mental. Everything anyone has ever told you about it - but more so. Cows in the street, ferrel dogs everywhere, bearded holy men, dead bodies (well one on a stretcher and one on the street with a bag tied around their head), blaring horns, stinking rubbish, people pooing in the street and every rickshaw driver calling for your trade. Pretty damn poor in the area we are in but amazing how quickly you get used to it!
We've ticked off the smarter sights - Red Fort, India Gate, President's House and Secretariat Buildings and went to see a Bollywood Movie last night at the PVR Cinema. Not as old school as you might think, A/C and comfy seats... we were hoping for dancing in the aisles... but pretty interesting all the same as the film was about how India is changing with women becoming more equal... definitely a good symbol of how fast things are changing what with the hip hop styleee tunes aaight.
Woke up this morning covered in blood from the flea-infested mattress. Anton's choice of hotel - nice. Now we're getting ready to head North to Amritsar tomorrow morning from the main rail station up the road... which Anton thinks is like clapham junction apart from the trains are probably on time.
We'll upload some snaps in due course!
