Well we have had a bit of everything in Koh Tao! After a very choppy ferry ride from Koh Phangan we finally arrived in a very busy Koh Tao. Our hotel was in a good location, close to all the bars and the beach. On our first night we got some food and played pool at our hotel bar.. we were joined by a very big mountain crab who tried to steal our pool balls and met a couple from Manchester, Sammi and Lee!
The following day, we chilled at the pool and a chilled evening planned...until we met Sammi and Lee again! We were going to have a quietish night as we had to get up for a snorkelling trip the next day. However, we ended up at a beach party until 3am, where we watched fire shows, human beat boxing, the amazing Dj Jaguar Skills and also had the pleasure of Lee teaching us how to skank and James teaching us how to shuffle!!! We obviously looked amazing doing this after a few Changs and Vodkas!! As we headed back to the hotel at 3am it became clear that we were not going to make the 7am alarm for our trip so I tried to explain to the guy on reception (who was also drunk, having just come from the beach party) that we were not planning on getting up at 7am!!
We woke up the next day at 2.30pm and nursed our hangovers with lots of food and an hour massage, as you do! We were back in bed by 10!!! Lightweights! With the aim of getting up at 7am for the snorkelling trip that we'd missed!
On Friday, me, James, Sammi and Lee headed out for the snorkelling trip. The boat was really wobbly and we were glad that we hadn't gone the day before (hungover)! We arrived at our first snorkeling point called Shark Bay......! James jumped straight in and went shark hunting for sharks that can grow up to 2m long. As soon as I heard this I got straight back out and sunbathed instead. I'm not scared of much except the sea and glass floors! James spotted some big fish but no sharks, and after climbing back on the boat we headed for our next snorkeling point.
We jumped off of the roof of the boat into the sea and snorkelled around, I lasted a whole 10 mins in the water before I went back to sunbathe and James and Lee carried on snorkeling.
By our 3rd stop I had built up the confidence.. sort of and stayed in the sea the whole time, even if it was clung to James' back!! I ended up dunking him a few times, and we saw lots and lots of beautiful colourful fish. I was really pleased that I bit the bullet and went in.. even though I was scared the whollleee time. The Thai guys on the boat thought it was hilarious to throw pieces of fruit at us so we were surrounded by fish, I was not amused! We took lots of pictures using the underwater camera, but can't get them developed until we get home.
Our last stop was the beautiful Nang Yuan Island, one of the worlds top 10 beautiful island and heritage sites. It was three little islands joined together by a sand bank. It literally was a close as you could get to paradise!!! We walked up to the top of the view point and took in the fantastic views and took lots of pictures. We then did a little bit more snorkeling around the island, where we discovered that our waterproof bag turned out to be not so waterproof! However our trusty camera is still working and going strong!! We headed back to the hotel and got ready for the evening.
We had a nice meal and then decided that we had to experience the famous Ladyboys! We headed to a show... James and I were less than impressed, the whole thing was just a little too weird. We watched the Ladyboys dress up and perform songs by Beyonce, Lady GaGa and Tina Turner...she simply wasn't the best!! All in all it was a little strange but at least we experienced it!!
Today (Saturday) we are heading to Koh Samui by ferry, for one last night before we fly to Krabi. We have had an amazing time on the east coast and hope that the west coast is even better.
Missing you all lots and hope that you are not too cold at home... Just going to sunbathe on the white sand beach!! Love to you all xxxx
