From where I left off on the last blog, we got up nice and early the next day and went to a town called Kampong Cham. The weather seemed nice so we hired some bikes. The bikes were ancient and didn't even have gears (they had a bell though, ace). We headed to this boat to go over to a small island. I say boat, it was more a plank of wood floating on water. Quite scary. We were cycling around this island when the heavens opened and the rain just absolutely beated down. It was raining so heavy that it was actually painful. A local lady let us stand under her hut for a bit but the rain was not stopping. Eventually we cycled to a Monastery and made shelter at the outdoor classroom. Oh dear me the teacher was the sexiest Monk I have ever seen in my life. I think it was the orange robe that did it for me. Seriously, I am going straight to hell. There were a few monk boys at the back of the class separate from the girls. We were allowed to chat with them but the women are not allowed to touch the Monks. But when someone tells you not to touch something all you want to do is touch them. As we were cycling back to the boat we were all really struggling and getting covered in mud. This motorbike was coming straight for me so I tried to move but instead my back wheel just went mental and skidded in the wrong direction, covering me even more in wet sloppy mud. My friend was just watching laughing at me.
So as for the poo situation (which by the way, I was not impressed by the lack of suggestions given), I am finally ok again. It has actually been a nightmare past few days. Firstly I got to the point where it was getting painful and I was looking huge. After doing my last blog entry I went back to the hotel and had some constipation tablets. This then kept me awake all night, and not even because I was poohing, but because they made my belly hurt like hell. 6am came and I at last had a pooh, but it was the most pathetic poo in the world. 7.30am came and we had a bus to catch. This is not good news, it was going to be 3 hours on a public bus. What am I going to do if I suddenly need to go??? Luckily for me, nothing was still coming out. We got to the end of the bus ride and stopped for an hour for lunch where we were then going to swap onto a private bus for another 3 hours. As I sat down for dinner I really wasn't feeling hungry. All of a sudden this pain rushed through me and I knew I needed a toilet and I needed one like Right Now! We were in this huge shopping center so I ran as fast as I could shouting to people along the way 'where's the toilet?' I finally find them and see 2 ladies waiting. By this time I am crouched over in agony f'in and blinding. One of the woman looks at me and pulling a silly face rubs her belly in sypathy. I couldn't even talk, just looked at her with these begging eyes she will let me push in. She let's me go next and I litterly just managed to get my pants down in time. After I finished I was washing my hands when someone went in after me. They came straight out and make a gross face to her mate, said something, then waited for another toilet to be free!!! I was sooooo embarrassed!!!
So we get back on this bus and throughout the 3 hours we stopped twice so I could piss s*** out my ass! It was the worst day ever! To make it worse we were doing a 'home stay' where we got to stay in a small community and sleep in someones hut. I knew the toileting facities were not going to be 5*! Sleeping in the hut was really cool though, apart from our wake up call! A rooster going mental at stupid o clock in the morning when the sun hadn't even rose yet! This then set the pig off grunting away, which then set the baby off in the hut next door, which then set the whole family off!! I was so not impressed!
The next day we treked up this mountain in the killer heat and s***ty rain, until we reached this absolutly gorgeous waterfall. It was so romantic, but I had to share the moment with a bunch of geeky Americans. Great! After we headed back on the bus to Sihanoukville. I was starting to feel like I was just constantly on a bus so was happy to know we would be here for 3 nights. Well.... my first day was spent feeling really really ill.....
Back to the belly situation. I was ill with it for 3 days and on day 3 I was actually in so much pain I couldn't get out of bed. In the end the tour leader took me to see someone and now I have 3 different tablets to take for 3 days! What a hoo har! Feeling ton's better now though and have gone back to looking fairly normal again. I hope this will please you all. So hopefully no more poo stories for a while.
In Sihanoukville we went on a trip to Ream National Park. Firstly we had to go on a boat to get to this island. The boat was like an old fishing boat, very small and similar to a boat I went on in China. Only the weather here isn't great at the moment and the boat was rocking crazy. I have actually never been so scared in my life. Tell a lie, the day Simon ran around Tor's house naked scared me more!!! So I am sat in between 2 people and am really wanting to cry. We would rock so much that water was close to coming over the edge. There were 3 things I kept thinking about. Firstly I had my camera, etc in my bag, which I didn't want falling in. Secondly I kept thinking about crocodiles. Then my third thought was, s***, I am going to die today! We were on it for a bloody hour! We finally see where we are heading when the boat can't go any further because of the sand. So we are told we are going to have to get out and walk to shore! I am like 'uh pardon!' I thought I might actually pooh my pants as was constantly thinking about thought 2 (crocs) again! I get in and realise that we are like 200m from shore. I start walking and with every step your feet and half bottom leg go straight down in the mud. It was so scary, I was really really scared! I was holding on to Emma's hand for dear life. At one point I stood on something really prickly and accidentally shouted out 'Owch I just stood on a porcupine!' Hahaha. Ok, and the most stupidest thing about it all was.... the water was only knee deep! I am so pathetic sometimes!
So we are on this lush island and do a little jungle trek which was really cool. We reach this secluded beach where no one is. It is so gorgeous and made me feel chilled again. When it was time to go I started freaking out about this boat again. By now the weather was even s***ter and it started to rain. I was so relieved when we finally got to dry land. I think I will definaltely not be participating in any white water rafting any time soon! They say you should do something everyday that scares you, well I think I do about 5 things that scare me everyday!
Had an early night as first thing the next day we went to Phnom Penh. We arrived lunch time and spent the afternoon at the S-21 Museum and Killing Fields. This was one the of the saddest places I have ever visited and I was really upset being there. I think what makes things worse was it was all so recent. At the killing fields you could still see bones lying around, clothes and teeth on the floor.
By the time we got back we all needed a drink. As it was Emma's birthday we decided to have it large. We went to this club and deary me I was wayyyy to drunk. In fact, so much so, that when Micheal Jackson's Thriller came on and I realised the stage was empty I thought it would be a good idea to get up on it and do the Thriller dance!!! What a cringe moment! My famous ''I'm never drinking again'' comment was used again this morning as I woke with the worst hangover known to mankind.
Currently trying to keep myself awake and can't wait till tomorrow when we go to Vietnam. This city is disgustingly dirty and absolutely stinks of s***. You sometimes actually have to hold your nose when walking around!
Will catch up again soon. xxx
P.S. Yesterday I tried a fried tarantulas leg!!! Never again! It was horrible!
