Hello all,
After a couple more days in ICU and getting all signed off by my supervisor, I took the opportunity on the Friday to see the sights! A visit to the Petronas Towers meant an early start to get tickets but seeing that the price had increased from my last visit in 2008 (when it was FREE) I decided to take a wander through the gardens instead.
The city centre of KL is supplied with a free wifi system so I chilled out, catching up on my emails before getting a few token photos of the towers and being whistled at by a park attendant for sitting on a swing in the deserted park.
From here I took the monorail to a stop close to the orchid gardens to go and buy some seedlings for mum. A few hours and several hot miles later I popped into a textile museum to cool off. With some interesting exhibitions it was a shame I was the only one there (and had been since Tuesday according to the visitor's log book). I grabbed some lunch from the seven eleven before picking up all my stuff from the hostel, checking out and traipsing my way across the city to Sentral Station.
From here I caught a bus to the airport, saying goodbye to the city of Kuala Lumpur, feeling as though I had only arrived a couple days before!
I checked into Pan Pacific and settled into the luxerious room to await the arrival of the parents. I didn't have to wait long to be reunited with them after 9 weeks away. After much catching up and exchanging of presents (Mum brought me cans of diet coke!!!!) we headed down to the pool for a swim before dinner. I think my meal cost the same as all the food I had eaten in the past week but it was amazing and I unashamadly stuffed my face.
We opted for an early night as Kerry's plane was getting in at midnight, predictably to the other airport. So after a few hours kip Dad and I set off via the last bus to the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT). My eyes were starting to droop after 40 minutes of scouring the arrivals for her face but eventually she arrived from the Phillipines remarkably cheerful and awake despite the time. We caught a taxi back to the hotel and resisted the urge to chat too late into the morning.
