Before leaving Easter Island visited the national park again which is most of the island. Leaned all about the once annual bird man competition. The sooty terns return each September and the tribes had a completion for obtaining the first egg laid. . It was a supreme honor to be a contestant and many were mauled by sharks in the one mile swim to the very small island where the birds returned annually. The stories go on and on from our guide edumundo who worked with Kevin Costner on a failed movie about the event!
Samoa is 86 % natives and they met us with torches, flowers and dance quite fun.
