Kath and Helen's Trip
Hey everyone,
Kath and I are still having fun in New Zealand. Queenstown was great, we went out our first night there where we drank cocktails from teapots! We also managed to get drinks bought for us by slightly drunken locals and our bus driver so we had a very cheap night!
The next day we had a much needed lie in before we went white water rafting! The rafting was fantastic - ther river was really full after lots of rain making it grade 5 rapids instead of 3-4!
We started well, managing to capsize our raft before we hit any of the major rapids! Once we got going again it was pretty amazing, the waves and the rocks were huge and we even had to get through a tunnel before hitting the huge rapid at the end!
The next day we were back to early starts as our bus left for Milford Sound (named after Milford Haven!) at 7am. The drive there was full of amazing scenery and we had to make loads of photo stops! When we arrived we took a boat trip out around the Sound to the mouth of the Tasman Sea which was beautiful, the weather was fantastic and the water was really calm which meant we got to see loads of dolphins and some seals aswell.
Yesterday we left Queenstown for Lake Tekapo - more great scenery but not much to do there - and today we are back in Christchurch for the night before we head off towards the North Island.
Missing everyone lots,
love Helen and Kath xxx
