This morning we were up and ready by 9, waiting for our bus to Sinoukville.. only to find a movie production on the narrow street where our guesthouse was situated! Random!!
On the bus we spotted Roel.. so we arranged to share a tuktuk with him to find a guesthouse. By the time it came to chosing our guesthouse, the sun was gleaming and the sea was calling us so Chris and I decided to take the first option we came across. Whilst Roel, on a bit of a bigger budget than us, decided to find somewhere else. Although ours was really nice, satalite TV and only $6 a night!Chris and I got unpacked and headed to the beach. We were told that the Cambodian beach of Sinoukville was really nice, but nothing like that of Thailand.. if that is the case then we're happy!!The beach was nice, and the sea had clear water - not your typical palm tree type beach but very nice nonetheless!
After an hour or so Roel met us on the beach. I decided I'd better clean up my act and got a manicure/pedicure and leg wax on the beach for just $6!!It was really professional too!
Roel had rented a motorbike out so that night we all squashed onto it and went for a cruise around. The drive was a little rocky at times but somehow we kept telling ourselves that Roel must be safe as he is a Piolet to be!haha. Chris and I have been wanting to try seafood for a while so whilst on the motorbike we spotted a really nice open air restaurant with BBQ seafood on the go! So we decided to eat there. Chris and I weren't sure on what to have - but as Roel had eaten seafood lots before we went with his choice and decided to get 3 dishes to share. We got Barracuda, Red Snapper and King Prawns. We had jacket potato and salad also - it was delicious!!After having a few drinks with our meal it was clear that the night had only just begun!! We headed to the beach bars, which were lit up with bright lights and bamboo chairs/sofas with huge cusions- so so relaxing!!
We started off at a quiet, chilled out bar at the quieter end of the beach - all of us drinking cocktails (Cosmopolitans and Long Island Ice Teas) and ended up on the hard stuff - mekong buckets - later on at the 'Dolphin Bar'! The buckets tasted really nice, but made from the local whisky, mixed with red bull - which turned out to be a lethal combination!! Or maybe it was because between us we had about 5 buckets!!! We all hit the dancefloor, dancing with transvestites and the locals!! However the next morning wasnt so funny...
I dont know how Chris managed buthe was up and ready on the beach for 10, whilst I staggered on at 12, feeling terrible!! After a couple of hours I started to feel better, and was in the sea as usual! Chris treat himself to a massage, whilst I slept!! Having still not fully recovered that night I decided to stay in and watch a movie, whilst Chris, Roel and a couple of others went out to a couple of bars on the beach and for another BBQ dinner. They later went on the motorbikes to some bars further inland, however it didnt turn out a great night as Roel got a flat tire in the middle of knowhere which took a while to fix. So Chris and another guy came back about 2am. After fixing the motorbike Roel and the others went to a club.
The next day Chris and I got a motorbike tuktuk to another beach up the coat from Serendipity. The beach was really nice, with a few restaurants, but alot quieter than serindipity. Even though it was a nice location to escape the many Cambodians selling things along the beach - I think Chris and I did prefer Serindipity beach! Alot more atmospheric and much more going on!!
Later that evening Chris and I ate at a delicious seafood restaurant along serindipity beach, and had a couple of drinks to unwind before our long journey to Koh Change the following day.
