The stone store
New Zealand's oldest European stone building was built between 1832 and 1835.Part of this two-storey building once served as library for New Zealand's first Anglican bishop, George Selwyn, from 1842-1844. Later, during conflicts with Ngapuhi chief Hone Heke Pokai, it became an ammunition store. Today, it serves as a general store and the top floor contains a small museum.
