29.10.07 - Arrived in South Island with high expectations after everyone we have met so far has raved about how great it is....and we were not disappointed. The scenery is unbelievable! As we drove along we went from driving next to the sea, to snow capped mountains, to rivers and waterfalls, not to mention the seal and penguin colonies right at the side of the road. 21.09.07 After a 13 hour plane journey from Chile, and losing a day crossing the 'date line', we arrived in Auckland airport at 4am with little to do, as we had to wait until 8am until we could collect our campervan, and finally get the road trip started. Ended up passing the time with a much needed shower and mcdonalds in the airport, before heading to collect the van. 12/09/07 - Crossed the border from Peru to Chile, not realising that it was still going to take us ANOTHER 35 hours to get down to Santiago - NIGHTMARE....so as we arrived in Santiago, (after totally mis-judging how long it would take us) , we had been on a total of 3 different busses, and on the move for 48 hours!! We can safely say that we now absolutly hate busses!!(And mummy thompson i know you're gonna find this hard to believe but kate didnt wash her hair...

03.09.07 - Arrived in Arequipa after 6 hour bus journey from hell (local bus full of smelly and rude Peruvians) from Lake Titicaca. After being COLD since leaving England (and obviously before we left due to s***ty English weather) we LOVED the beautiful sunshine of AREQUIPA!!
