you could almost take one home. It was quite a different experience seeing these cats up close at night, we were in a land cruiser that had no roof and for the driver and guide who were closer to the ground no front doors. The driver took us to within about 2 meters of the cats and we were told it was okay to use flash photography and to stand up in the back if we wanted. For Paul and I this was a completely different and slightly scary experience, we’d seen lions in a game reserve on the garden route years before and these things weren’t wild, when someone had stood up in the huge truck we were in then one of the female lioness’s had lunged forward, thankfully this lioness and her cubs didn’t seem bothered one bit!!
