Grand Canal Ireland
Standing on the bridge in Daingean - felt like we were in Holland! Construction of the canal started in 1756 to increase transportation and trade between Dublin and the Midlands. 40 years later as construction neared its end, it reached Daingean and it was discovered the bridge that had been built was in the wrong direction. Lots of fixing occurred and the bridge is still at an angle to the canal - but still carries the traffic on the Daingean/Tyrellspass Road over the canal. They certainly knew how to build them.
