Tucked in at the edge of the Blessington Lakes this is one of hundreds of holy wells around Ireland. St P was a big believer in baptisms and hey, water's good for people anyway. Was in complete disrepair until a few years ago - silted up, rubbish and the wall was falling down. But a clever local man did the research - people even remember the days when they'd be sent to the well as kids to get water for Easter that would then be used to bake into special bread for Easter Sunday. Anyway - he persuaded the Electricity Supply Board to clean it up and restore it as a goodwill gesture - so voila! Water running clean and clear and a few little candles.
