Victoria, Vancouver Island
26th - 28th November
We had sworn off the Greyhound and decided to travel by ferry over the border to Vancouver Island. The weather until now had been very mild for the time of year however it took a turn on our way over - it was actually snowing over the sea! The Canadians were refreshingly pleasant and loved telling us how it hadn’t snowed like this since the winter of 1996! Victoria was a gorgeous winter wonderland but was in a bit of chaos with the lack of taxis so we walked blindly following snow-covered street signs!
Victoria is a lovely quaint (very British!) small city with great shopping and a beautiful government house that is lit up intricately at night as you can see in the pictures. Mostly it was just a really nice place to be but it was a shame that the roads were too treacherous to venture further afield and discover the real Vancouver Island.
