Surely Vang Vieng is a mythical town created by the minds of backpackers, nestled next to the Nam Song river in Laos. Endless bars and restaurants playing Friends and The Simpsons on a continual loop, eons of western style food, lots of beer, and tubing down the river with handy bar stops every 2 metres or so, crazy zip slides over the water and booming music clashing with the several adjacent bars. I thought I would hate it. But bizarrely, I don't. Maybe its the freely available pancakes :)

The tubing was, in equal measures: tranquil and peaceful drifting down the river with the magnificant mountainous backdrop; like something from a cheesy American film depicting Spring Break with hoards of revellers going crazy; and absolutley freezing as avoiding getting drenched after thye sun went down was impossible. Luckily I survived the hyerthermia, I give credit to the bannana and honey pancake lol.

Oh, and I have a new found understanding of the chnaging hair styles in Central Perk.
