Ok - so here we go. Blogging is now officially something I can add to my resume when we return in 5 months.
The trip started very very well - all flights were on time and everything went smoothly and on top of that we could get a relatively cheap business class upgrade on our 13 hour flight from Madrid to Buenos Aires and we jumped at the chance. Business class is simply heaven... Three course meals, champagne, and (most importantly) we could lie flat down so we landed in Buenos Aires well rested and we had already overcome the jetlag. Great way to start our "vacation" :-)
We arrived at our hotel/loft appartment in palermo around 11am and were ready to take on the city. As you do in big cities we walked and walked all day until we had large blisters on our feet and we couldn't keep our eyes open anylonger. We explored the city, ate great food and drank cheap good wine. Our loft was really cool with a small kitchen and balcony so all in all our first day was just as we hoped for. Now the planning started on where to go next, what to see, where to stay etc.
We decided on booking a bus ticket to Mendoza and we are leaving tomorrow evening on a 17 hour busride - thank god for luxury sleeping busses. We booked our stay in Mendoza through airbnb and are now enjoying our last 36 hours in BA. Mostly in a cafe with wifi since it hasen't stopped raining since we woke up this morning. Really strange since it was 30 degrees the last two days with no clouds in the sky. Oh well, we don't mind sitting in a cafe with our feet up reading about new destinations and updating you guys on our whereabouts. Especially since last night got kind of late after we went to a local drum concert in the local culture arena together with thousands of young hipster argentinians and travlleres, ending the evening with a huge steak at Desnivel - a restaurant I was at 10 years ago when I was first in BA backpacking with my friend Sidsel. Oh the memories... the steak was just as great as I remembered - tenderloin that you can cut with a spoon and really good cheap red wine along with it. I think we am slowly turning into cowa considering the amount of meat we have eaten.
Well I guess that it is it for now. First entry was quite detailed but since we have only been here a couple of days I have to explain in detail :-) We are doing great and are excited about the adventure that lies ahead of us.
