OMG, I'm amazed that i can still remember what day it actually is! Think that we travelled on 5 trains yesterday from Colmar, France (0900) onto our destination, Koblenz(Germany 1820 hr) via Switzerland (lunched there but didn't want to stay afterall) & lovely Luxembourgh (took the hop on hop off 1 hour bus tour in the pouring rain) and back on the train with the last one ending up being a milk run thanks to me for picking the slowest trip to Koblenz, Germany!! What can i say, 2 trains sitting there with the same information going to the same destination with lots of room in the first class section (that's us!!) so get on the darn train right?....no, we couldn't believe that it was sooooo slow!!! Think i heard the train guy wrong. All the time we're thinking that no one will be at the end of the line at the usual information desk to help us with a place to stay, OMG!! Fear not, everything is amazing when it comes to Germany, such effiency i tell u. Sadly though the lady told us that there was some kind of fuinction going on and that all was full! What??? So off we went and asked for ourselves and luckily the second spot had a room......i was off the hook!! Redeemed i was!
Okay, Koblenz wins first prize for being such a beautiful old and young city where u can't get lost just twisted a bit with the old streets, beautiful here as it sits between the 2 rivers, Mosel & Rhine. With our eurorail pass we got on the river cruise and with gorgeous sunshine and a cool wind off we went for a 4 1/2 hr cruise gauking at the river banks, vineyards, mountains and castles way high up, incredible, but u would have know about these things that r available with the pass before u leave and so i was! Gave Donna a break with walking as her foot is still bugging her, she only froze a bit with the wind, no jacket!! Got to get some fat on that girl!
So, tomorrow is another adventure and train day, sucks doesn't it! Guess i won't be smiling when i actually have to return home and put on that uniform! 13 days to go...... we're off on a short train ride early as the Burg Eltz (castle) opens at 0930 and with a hike to the place it should be well worth it. Not sick of castles quite yet but museums are off the list for sure! We'll head back to catch the "fast" train, I promise, out of Germany so we say good-bye till next time and on to Brussels! Yes! I think that i have somewhere in the mark of over 1000 pictures so far and some videos too, thank goodness for digital.
Shall chat soon again, thanks for reading this stuff! Love to all and stay well as we are too!
Cheers! Judi xxxxxxxxxxxÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖ
