Lets Go Truckin!
Vang Vieng itself is surrounded by huge limestone edifices which jut vertically and spectacularly above the river and town - just beautiful. The town itself is a travellers mainstay - its a pretty tiny place but filled with bars and guesthouses and westerners drinking or recovering from their BeerLaos - mmm deliscious.
Its kind of a shame really given that the place is so gorgeous but we're not gonna let that stop us from partaking in the most popular activity here which is floating down the river on an inner tube, in the sun, taking in the scenery and occaisionally getting hauled in on a bamboo pole to partake of more Beer Laos and jump into the river from various rickety looking (but probably very sturdy, honest) contraptions that the locals have rigged up to give the farang a good time.
Just in case you were thinking that its all BeerLaos here we did take a kayak trip down the river yesterday, (with some other older and more sober couples!) stopping off at two of the many caves in the limestone rockfaces to have an explore. Onwards to Laung Prabang tomorrow.
Our photos to follow soon - brace yourself for more sunsets!
