Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world. We were on a 3 days/2 nights driving safari. We all got to drive 4x4 on the longest beach. Off roading was tough, as we were driving on deep sand dunes. We had to be in first gear with max revs to make sure we never got stuck. We was in the best car with a bunch of Irish and Austrian. 8 people to a car and we all took it in turns to drive over the 3 days. Others were better than others but my first drive was a bit boring and short so I managed to get a second drive on the last day. We were told to come up with a car name so that when we radioed through, you would say something dirty and say "come in" at the end. Our car name was "Molly Molly, come in". As our first driver, her name was Molly and our tour guide liked it. Other car nicknames were all plays on the words come in, which was funny.
Our tour guide is the best tour guide I've had. Goes by the name of Muzza and he swears more than my nana. His famous sayings were, "trust the muzz", "cool cool", "whats up my b****es". Called the Irish ginger guy a "ginger c**t and ginger nuts", and the french girls "f***ing frogs" and '"croissants" Bare in mind he's in his 50's and smokes around 40 cigarettes a days. Even rolls his cigarette when driving, control the steering with his knees. One morning he jumped out the van without stopping, left it rolling, then dived into the lake to wake himself up, nutter he his.
French girls were just typical french. Rude and inconsiderate, they made out they can't speak English, but they can. They couldn't drive and always talked when Muzza was talking to the group, I once told them to sush. I got daggers for the rest of my time with them.
Purchased some goon, which we completely demolished on our first night. Everyone was super drunk. We walked to the beach from our campsite at night which was silly as there were dingos out there and they eat and attack anything. Luckily we didn't see any. They look like a cross between a dog and a fox.
Food wasn't too bad, we got plenty of food supplied although we had to prepare it as a group, well your car groups. First night we had veg stir fry then second night was steaks and potato salad which was tasty.
I could not fault the tour, I had so much fun and great laughs with great people. I really didn't want the trip to end. Although, when it did end and when we checked into the hostel back on Rainbow beach. I was totally exhausted, so drained, however I still made it out for drinks at night to say goodbye to everyone.
