Jono's Travels
Arriving into the noisy wasteland, sorry I mean the Melbourne Airport was pretty easy, nothing like I elected it would be... I waa expecting something that was going to be packed of people travelling, and having a quiet full airport to walk through... Wow was I wrong. I got off the plane and proceeded though to the international transfer, it was so bare of people I thought that perhaps I was going the wrong way. Going though the security check was relatively uneventful, however they said I wasn't able to take my water though after it had gone though the X-ray unit. After asking if I could quickly finish it off they said yes, but I had to go to back to the other side of the security gate so I could finish it, and then put it though the X-ray machine again. There were only 2 people behind me by this stage so it wasn't a biggie, but really, what a waste of time, they had as many people at the security checkpoint as there were people going through, it wouldn't have taken them long to just watch me drink it. After going though the security gate again, my watch triggered the gate off, I was asked to take it off and go though the gate again, sigh... More time wasted... But I guess I do have 5 and a half hours to waste. After grabbing my things and heading upstairs I arrived at what appeared to be an empty airport, no people apart from staff anywhere to be seen. I could understand it being empty at let's say 2 or 3am in the morning, but seeing it's only about 6pm I was extremely surprised. It does have the added bonus though, no one is on the wifi, and I have my choice of power outlets to plug in to. One downside however is the extremely loud speakers in my area going off every few minutes looking for people who have failed to check onto their planes, or other planes leaving, on top of that a to cranked up rather loud playing the news, I can only assume the volume is up so loud to outdo the noise created when there are a lot of people. After listening to the news for several hours it's now time to board the plane, thank goodness, I don't know how many times I can put up with hearing about Australian politics and how many times I can be bothered listening to them talking about the Australian TV Logie Awards, apparently "Televisions night of nights". I guess my next update will be in about 13 or 14 hours, who knows, may even be later, depends if I have time to post my next update in Abu Dahbi, from the time of landing, I have only about 1:30 to make it to my next flight, let's hope there are no delays.
