Day 5
To day is moving day, not that we are moving far just across town, we going west to east , this is the more posh side of town. Here we have Robson street which is the same as Hollywood boulevard . One block from the unit we hail a cab ,5minute later we arrive at Georgia Court Motel home for a day.
We register ,settle in and decide to go and see a couple of well
known places over here, Granville Island Markets and theVandusen Botanical Gardens. I asked the concierge where bus left from and told that the water bus would be the best. He gives us direction and away we go we are off to Granville Island Markets. The ferry take us across,a cute little thing and we go looking for a stall that makes Pot Pies,a bit of searching and there is and that means lunch, these were delicious a must try , but markets themselves were no better or worse than any we have a home. We find our way to nearest bus stop back into town ,then transfer to the number 17 bus which will take us to VanDusen Botanical Gardens,
The place we wanted to see was located at another venue which was a walk of about 2ks but by now the temperature had risen and the walk became tougher than we thought. This location was the Bloedel Conservatory, we found the signage limited to find our way , but being the tracker we are, we eventually found it.
Inside we found a peaceful tropical paradise which also housed bird of all kind an colours such as red and blue Macaws , canaries and of course Cockatoos. We stay for while enjoying the tranquility but even that can go on for to long so we hit the road jack and headed for home, another 2ks walk back to where we would catch the bus and the it was smooth sailing, back to Motel.
It is strange but as soon as I hit the bed I was sound asleep , I was waken by the tour guide to book a restaurant called Fanny's Oyster Bar . This was a short stroll around the corner and I must say this was the best of the meals we have eaten. We sat the bar which allowed us to watch as the men prepare the fresh oysters. There were 3types of oysters in the dozen , not styles and they were amazing. The next course was fish & chips with small amount of salad all was lovely but the chips were so good we ordered another. If you are ever in Vancouver I would suggest you try this little place, it rates 30th in trip adviser in Vancouver out of 4000.
We use the public transport system and we are quiet good at it, we actually got there without one domestic, I know you are amazed ,so are we. The bus drops off right at the entry ,just a small walk to the gate, inside we find that instead of a free entry it will cost $11 each and we did not want to the gardens
