Day 6
Today we started the first stage of a 2day adventure on the Rocky Mountaineer which starts in Vancouver at 8.00am and end in Kamloops at 5.15pm. The first section of the trip is fairly slow as the train works it way out of the city . Slowly but surely the train gathers speed and the high rise building disappear bring forth the wilderness. The smoke from the wildfires is still making the possibility of seeing more that 100 meters impossible. The photos because of this are a little dull but still reflect what we have been seeing all day. Before I go into this I must tell you about the train, it is massive ,2 Locomotive and 10 carriages ,4 of these are double decker which the top is for viewing and the bottom is the dinning car, very posh .the food is 1st class and the service the same. The windows rape from the side to the top giving 90degree views, although the smoke has made our trip less spectacular we have still been able to capture plenty of wild life, such as Bald Eagles. Ospreys, wild long horn sheep, throw in some truely magnificent shots of the raging Frazer River and I think we did well with what we had. We went through some small towns that were aestablished back in the fur trading era as well as other the came about during the gold rush years , we passed through lands own by the native indigenous people dating back 9000 year. So far the history and the unending Mountains and trees have at least given us something to marvel at.
We hope tomorrow brings us more and I will get some photos of the breakfast and lunch. Today's lunch was just one as Shirley and I had the same.
So until the next tale of adventure we wish all good night.
Love Shirley and John.
