Day 27
Out To sea.
Today we are going out to sea to see the Kenai Glacier .or so we thought. We arrived at the boat harbour office to be told that because of high sea the trip had been cancelled and a alternative trip was organised. This would be a 5 hr trip around Bay Resurrection . This had a lot of part Glaciers plus the 3 prong Bear Glacier.again the weather is not kind ,although not raining it overcast and dull. In saying this the cruise was still quite enjoyable. On board was a park ranger who's knowledge of the area contributed to this being a fun trip.
We were able to tick off 2 more creatures, sea otter in the wild and a puffin. A bit of trivia,a group of puffins is Called a circus. We saw porpoises ,other bird life and took some beautiful photos. The lunch provided was excellent ,freshly cooked salmon ,rib eyed beef, dirty rice and salad.when lunch was over a hump back whale was spotted thank to these bird circling, than out came the whale . It bobbed up once or two
then disappeared , then without warning it propelled itself out of the water, yes it breached right next to the boat, the boat cheered and gasped ,it was unbelievable. I was now hoping that the next sighting would be a Killer Whale ,but it was not to be. Today may not have been what we want but it gave us more than we expected. Tomorrow we catch a bus to Talkeetna so another travelling day, should take 4-5 hrs.
