Day 29

A flight over Mount McKinley.

Today in Talkeetna we are going to fly over their highest mountain, Mount McKinley. Our booking is for about midday so that gave us some time for a sleep in. They picked us up and away we went. The plane was a 12seater so all on board got a window seat, the only problem was the weather was inclement so flying over the mountain was no longer on the program, but that didn't stop us from having a fabulous flight.

Viewing a Glacier from up close differently changes the way you judge them. It is fascinating how they are structured and again the different colours compare to the last lot we showed you. One of these Glaciers we saw today was 44kilometers long. All up we flow round the mountains for over an hour.

Shirley and I then set sail for town ,off to the wild flower cafe, this time,Shirley was having Shrimp come hell or high water, I was having The burger. We again walked back to the lodge to wait for our next bus trip to Denali.

The bus arrived on time as is normal for Alaska ,this time we had a lady drive and she made the 2 1/2 hr trip enjoyable. As per normal I was keeping an eye out for animal and good photo shots . Just like most camera freaks there are more photos than needed, so I will pick some from both adventures an hope you all like them.

Tomorrow we are supposedly doing white water rafting , boy am I looking forward to this.
