Hanoi - 12 midnight Curfew - Very friendly place, yeah right. Only time you see police is when they come round to check everyone has gone home for curfew and everywhere is closed, no where to be seen when all the gangs are holding folk up.
Not much to say bout the place, we planned to stay for 4 nights but cut this in half very quickly. Seen Ho Chi Minh himself, died 30 years ago but still being kept 'pickled' for everyone to see. No photos, weren't allowed to talk, no hands in pockets, arms by sides, ni smiling, marched in and out quickly. Dead chap (Mr Miyagi our of Karakte Kid as Jo called him) was guarded by hundreds of soldiers just in case something happened to him.
Seen his old house and palace and also a 'intersting' museum bout him where hundred of folk in blue shirts ran about the place.
Went to an old prison, now a museum where both Vietnamese and Americans (who where shot down) where kept and tortured. Apparantly John McCain (US Senator) was tortured here and he cant lift his arms above his head because of it.
Frequented some very nice wee brewing establishments and had a very enjoyable 3 hour lunch. Also seen the Water Puppet show, everyone that goes to Hanoi sees it and its always recommended but we all thought it was a pile of crap and most of us slept through it, explains why it was 1.5pounds sterling.
Next day got out of Hanoi asap to Singapore, no more Good Morning Vietnams.
Vietnam was a great place to see, shame bout the capital.
