Postcard home: Didn't we do well? We have reached the Rocky mountains already, 5 days on the road and several sights already seen. There is hardly a cloud in the sky. It is a truly fantastic sight all captured on film. We have 2 days left to reach Phoenix. Today we are going to drive through the Rockies.

We had to get up early this morning because we got last night's room by courtesy of the 2nd in command at Kansas Weslayan University. The guy in charge was not available. We had already been refused accommodation at one of the other halls of the same univeristy. Showered, dressed and went for a special breakfast. We paid $1.65 for an 'eat all you can' meal; cereal, eggs, sausage, coffee, fruit juices etc. After leaving the university (first day back for their students) we bought petrol and then went to the centre of St Louis. We got up at 9.00am and went to Scholl's restaurant in the town. From there we walked to some of the famous places in Washington; The White House, Lincoln Memorial, The Washington Monument, and several others.
