After a day on a variety of moads of transport, from a very sweaty mini-bus, to a freezing cold luxuary air-con bus we eventually arrived at KL 11pm and not supprisingly headed straight for bed!
20/10 - Shopping
Having scanned the map we headed for Chinatown and wondered round the markets and stalls. Feeling uninspired we selected our chosen shopping mall and made a bee-line for it. Sadly, I had to retire early due to illness so took to my bed with trashy English mags and chocolate! Feeling better later, I went back to meet the girls, armed with jumpers and socks for the cinema to watch the House Bunny!?! very funny film, nice chilled out night!
21/10 - Mission: Twin Towers
So all good tourists get up early to join the queue for their free ticket to the towers! Our mission meant we had to leave the hotel by 7.30am trek for a good 1/2hr and then stand a queue and wait! Unfortunatly our ticket wasn't until 12.45pm so all that was left to do was shop!! Highly excited by TopShop we started well, but more excited I spotted Marks&Spencers and made a bee-line for the under-ware section...you just can't beat M&S knickers!! The Towers were good, but not that spectacualr...it's one of those things that from the outside it looks totally amazing, but then you can't actually see it when you're in it! I bravely went a got a well-needed hair cut...no tears, no trantrums and suprisingly, I liked it!! (wow, I must be growing up!)
22/10 - KL Tower
Sadly the girls left me today (had to get a cheap flight) so I switched hotels (no more luxuary for me!) I now find myself in a dorm with 6other girls (but paying just 2pounds for the privilage). After a wonder round Central Market in Chinatown I head for the KL Tower...this is more what I expected!...as you get to the top the views are spectacualr over the whole of KL. Everything is so clear and you can see for miles and miles around! As I am up here I reflect on the fact that sunset would probably have been an amazing time to be up here...oh well...amazing all the same!
It's not until you walk around the city that you truely reflect on how diverse it is...it almost has no identity of it's own. It is made up of a mixture of cultures and beliefs, the shops are filled with 'trinkets' from neighbouring SE Asian countries...maybe that is it's identity!? Taking time out to watch the people shows that despite all the differences everyone goes about their daily buisness as 'normal', not noticing anything unusual about the set up! As they say in Thailand..."Same same but different!"
23/10
So today was spent wasting more time wondering round parts of the city that i hadn't really explored yet...more shopping malls! As I walked down the street I attempted to cross the road, but the traffic wouldn't let me, so I continued down where I was. At this point someone jumped out in front of me...it was Rob and Abby, people I'd shared the seat-less bus journey from Krabi to Ko Phangan. I'd last seen them on the Island over a week ago, and had no idea that they'd be in KL now...such a small world. It does make you think...we were both on the same street, at the same time in the same place...if I'd crossed the road I'd have never seen them! So with all this time to spare, I thought I'd treat myself to a Fish Foot Spa!! having nto enjoyed being eaten by the fish on my scuba experience, I wasn't sure how I was going to get on here...regardless I put my feet in the pool! It was a very weird sensation...not tickley, not relaxing...just weird! I got a fre shoulder and neck massage with it, but I was far from relaxed! Needless to say the fish had a feast on my feet, and I walked away with softer and fresher feeling feet (all for a mere 6pounds!)
