I woke up after 4 hours sleep on 16th June VERY tired and had to get up and pack my things for the bus to Dunedin. I got there at about 2pm and headed over to my friends Mario, Yolanda and Rupert Ray's house and it was SO exciting to see them! They moved to Dunedin from England a while ago so it was the first time I'd seen them in about 2 years, so it was very cool to meet up with them again, and kind of weird for it to be in New Zealand! We left Wanaka at about 9am on Tuesday morning and headed over to an interesting place called Puzzling World. They had a big outdoor maze (which was a bit chilly!) and also lots of illusion rooms, such as rooms where the faces on the walls follow you, or when one end of the room you look miniature and the other end of the room you look like a giant! We arrived at Franz Josef after a couple of hours on the bus from Lake Mahinapua through stunning scenery and rustled up some grub pretty much straight away, then went to watch the All Blacks vs. Ireland rugby match on the tv in the hostel's bar (they thrashed the Irish much to the annoyance of the two Irish girls on the trip!), and got our results from the fancy dress party. After leaving Westport, we headed down the coast along what is known as one of the most beautiful and scenic coastal drives in the world. It really was stunning, and as I said before, even though it was raining it just made the rugged and raw coastline seem more majestic. Heading over to Westport on the west coast wasn't too nice really, the weather wasn't on our side; it was very wet and windy! However, that didn't stop us going on a short walk in the Nelson Lakes national park on the way (luckily the weather had brightened up a bit on the way!) and some of the boys were even brave enough to jump in!
