We finally arrived in Ko Tao and we were so glad to get off the rusty old trawlers boat. As soon as we got off the boat there were thai peaople asking us if we wanted to book a diving course with them, but as we had been traveling for two days straight all we could think about was finding a clean bed and crashing out. I would recommend this diving course as it is the cheapeast we have seen on all our travel's and also include's your accomadation. I think all in it was £200 pound's!
We walked straight past all the men selling excursions and realised that it was only six am and not one of the hotels where open yet, so me and Cheryl and a couple of others we met on our trip managed to persuade a bar owner to cook us up some breakfast. We where sat right on the beach as the sun came up and the view was amazing, it was worth all the traveling just to get to this tiny island.
After a bit of walking around we managed to find a room a few hundred metre's up the hill from the beach, 300 baht (£6) a night the room was pretty basic and full of bugs, the shower was freezing with brown water, but we didnt give a s*** it was 100% better than the train and the boat we took to get us here, all we wanted was a couple of hours sleep. We got up and walked down to the beach and found the Anatra beach huts for 500 baht (£10) a night and best of all it was really clean. One step outside our room and you where right on the Hat mai head beach overlooking the island of Ko Nanghan, PERFECT. You could get a traditional water taxi over there for a couple of pound. We were so glad to finally get here we spent the first two days just laying around on the beach and wandering over to the the bars and restaurant's over the hill at sari beach.
We found a place that done the best chicken kebabs we have had in our lives (£1.50) with chips and salad. The drinks were also really cheap, so we sat outside on the decking overlooking the sea and had a few watching the fire thrower's. The world cup was on and England where playing Algeria the next night so we were coming back.
Every morning we went for breakfast at the family run Anatra restaurant, just behind our beach hut, the food was munch, and best of all cheaper than chips. Then we would wander around the stalls and get ourself's a fruit shake to wash it down. When we went back to the happy snapper restaurant to watch England play, I could not believe my eyes they had a massive TV screen right on the beach about ten metre's out in the water the atmosphere was buzzing.
The next day we went on a snorkling excursion which took us right round the island stopping off at all the coral reefs, it was real value for money and we loved swimming with all the fishes. On the way back the boat stopped off at Ko Nanghan, this island was just like a post card of paradise we sat at the beach bar and had a few, and had a swim for a while. Then a storm came in which was pretty awsome to watch as the sky turned black.
A few days later we got packed up and got a ferry to the island of Ko Samui. We loved it on Ko Tao the thai people where so friendly and the island was relaxing and layed back we couldn't wait to see what Samui was like.
