Hey guys and girls,
I should start by talking of our Chiang Mai trekking adventures, so i shall. In Chiang Mai we embarked upon a trek. Upon this trek we walked to small Hill tribe settlements, went water rafting, swam nearby a waterfall and, very profesionally in my opinion, rode an elephant. After Chiang Mai we briefly stopped off at Chiang Rai before catching a boat into Laos where the customs officials were fairly slack to say the least. There were none.
We are currently in Vientiane on our last stop off in Laos. We have absolutely loved everything about Laos and im pretty sure we'll come back one day... soon.
Our first stop off was Luang Prabang after 12 hours of constant mountainous bends on a 'bus'. Situated on a bend of the Mekong, the scenery here was brilliant. We did very little here but walk and eat all the food snacks from the stalls.
Our next stop off was Vang Vieng which was one of our favourite places yet. Apart from relaxing in cafes watching constant reruns of 'Friends' and 'Family Guy' we eventually explored the town's surroundings. We walked to various caves (although after following various signs on our third day we managed only to find a fairly empty field with a few cows eyeing us up). We also hired bikes for a day and cycled past local villages and into the hills.
Last night we arrived in our current location where we have no plans on what to visit or when.
We should leave for Bangkok in the next couple of days depending on bus times and pure laziness. Of course, we have made prior arrangements to meet some folk in Cha Am on the 6th.
Hope everybody is hunky-doory and you're all enjoying the English sun.
Lots of Love,
Neil et Julia xxx
