Hiroshima Memorial Park and Miyajima. Up, breakfast and more chat with Amy, Stefan and Thomäs. Thomäs offered to walk with us around the Memorial Park and A-Bomb Dome. We learnt a lot: how there is a book inside the memorial plinth, in which names of those who died after the blast and those who have died from cancer since, are added to the book. Kyoto to Hiroshima 311km (193miles) time to travel took 72 minutes. Arrive on bullet train, got maps and directions to hostel, J-Hoppers. Can you spot a trend? Had to get the  'Sightseeing bus' to the Memorial park then walk for 7- 8 mins. We walked for a good 20 minutes as we had gone in the wrong direction whilst it began to spit with rain. Sunday 15th 20c (ish) spitting rain and sunshine. On the bullet train, aka Shinkansen - top speed 270kph. From Tokyo to Kyoto it is 363km (226miles) and the time it took to travel was 2 hours 40 mins. Over the journey we hoped to see Mount Fuji, alas due to the heavy, low, dark rain clouds we saw very little, let alone the mountain. Thursday 12th April In Narita airport we collected our bags and enquired about the shuttle bus to the hotel - stop 32, every 10 minutes. Spot on. Checked in and got the lift to our room, in front of which a bank of vending machines with everything in. The alcohol one was on 6th floor.
