To my disbelief, and I think most people around me, the day had finally arrived-it was time to leave! The first flight saw about 45 mins of shut eye what with the freezing temperatures and close quarters. The second flight was a whole new experience altogether, and that experience was called budget European airlines. To say that I questioned my survival rate throughout the most of it would be fairly accurate. There was just something about the extremely close quarters, plastic seat backs, and shaky take off/landing that seemed to heighten my worst flying fears. Nonetheless I survived to tell the tale.
The next two days were spent exploring the city and all the sites that it had to offer. I explored cathedrals, walked through art museums (where apparently a bucket of used light bulbs qualifies), and caught a game of cricket in the park. And here is something to make everyone feel safe about where I stayed (keep in mind I have now left the city), it was apparently at one point the largest red light district in all of Europe! Don't you just love history!?
Speaking of history.. The city is full of it from the Irish Revolution in 1916 when they fought for independence. Some buildings and statues in the city still have bullet holes from the fighting back then!
The last day in Dublin was spent on a day tour to various parts of the countryside, including where they filmed PS I love you and Braveheart! We then traveled to a castle that has been around since the 800s (yes that's without the 1).
I should also mention that I have discovered the two most dangerous threats to my safety on this journey... Cobblestone streets and bunk beds. I can't even count the amount of times I have banged my head and rolled an ankle so far!
I have met some very nice people to enjoy the city and the nightlife with so far along the way! Have gone out for dinners, on tours, and out to watch some live music! And from my experiences I can only say that many Irish stereotypes are still going strong with just one word.. Guinness.
And with that I will say goodbye, talk to you in Cork!
Love,
Sara

Tracy Love this post!! Happy you're going out eat! Any Niall sightings?!?
Sara Haha I wish!! The Irish museum of modern art had a guitar competition being filmed when I was there and the guy told me there'd be "lots of celebrities", so I hoped but it just wasn't meant to be :( ... YET!
Bonnie Enjoyed reading about your time in Dublin. Sounds like your first days were interesting! Take care, lv, Gram xo
