7/19 Austria looks like Switzerland
The wakeup call came at 6:30. I got up quickly and got my luggage outside the door.
I was super hungry for some reason when I got to breakfast. I had salami, cheese and bread and some fruit salad. We got on the bus around 8:00 to head to our Innsbruck city tour.
We got to the city center where we dropped off a few people who didn't want to pay for the city tour. Then our tour guide, an old Austrian named Peter, got on our bus and we started our city tour.
Peter seemed to know everything there was to know about Innsbruck. He took us to a really cool ski jump (that had a view of a cemetery at the bottom of the jump! Scary!), showed us some statues, took us to 2 basilicas, and took us to the main shopping area, among many other sites. He was very knowledgeable and I really enjoyed his tour.
After the tour we had an hour to shop and grab a snack before getting back on the coach. I hung out with loud Indian-Canadian lady and her two daughters because I needed someone to take my picture in the city square so I sucked it up.
We got back on the coach and then made our way to St. Moritz. It took a few hours of driving through the mountains. The views were fantastic but it started to rain. We got to our hotel around 5:30. We didn't have many options for dinner because of our hotel's location. I decided to go to the grocery store with Eric and Jan, a couple from Texas. We were told the Coop grocery store closed at 6 so the three of us hurried to the store in the rain. I bought salami, a small loaf of bread, cereal bars and a sprite. They bought bread and cheese so we decided to pool our resources to make sandwiches back at the hotel.
We got back to their room and had a little indoor picnic. We were also pleasantly surprised to find that the hotel had an ice machine! (none of the European countries have an appreciation for ice like I do!)
After our dinner, I went downstairs to use the free Internet. I got back upstairs by 8, took a shower and was ready for bed by 8:30. Deciding that was too early to go to bed, I stayed ip and read my book for about an hour. At 9:30, I checked to make sure the door was unlocked for Mikayla to get in and I turned off the lights.
