Cliff jumping
Since my last blog we've moved from Pamukkale though to Olundinez, Kas and Olympus.
Olundinez was wicked, we spent two nights there camping right on the blue lagoon. Whilst at Olundinez I did then maddest thing I've done to date and went paragliding! Yes I really did throw myself of a cliff! It was amazing and to be completely honest the ride up the mountain in a cramped jeep where the driver seemed to speed up the thinner and windier the roads became was scarier! (Will and I were petrified!) The views were amazing! It just felt like I was sitting in a comfy chair floating down! So glad I did it! We jumped from about 6000ft and took about 25mins to get down. We did the jump in the early afternoon so we able to chill out after and went for a swim in the lagoon just before dinner. It was so calm in comparison to the sea at Selcuk.
The next day about midday we headed off to Kas, a small port town. On route about lunchtime we made an impromptu stop at a small cove. It was gorgeous and the water was perfectly clear. The best lunch break I've ever had!
We arrived in Kas that afternoon and had another dip before heading into the town for an after dinner drink. The first bar we went to was Baba Noel's Café! Very strange in May! We then went to a bar where we sat out on the balcony in these wicked beanbags. (I'll try to get some pics up) They were so comfy!
The next day we moved on to Olympus. We camped at the village after Olympus, which is closer to the eternal flames. I was on cook duty the first night, which was fairly easy in comparison to our last time where we spent four hours cooking jacket potatoes and sausages! We were all packed up by 9 so the evening was ours. We all chilled out in the Pension's/campsites bar. It was only me, Martin and Louise left and the proprietor offered us a drink in is house on site, not one to say no a nose around a Turkish home we accepted and took the opportunity to find out more about how Turkey is run etc. Was very interesting!
I chilled out at the campsite the next day before making the trek up to the eternal flames at dusk. They were meant to re-ignite themselves if you blew them out but none of them did so we relit them ourselves before leaving!
We are now heading towards Aksary (we've been on the road since 6am, it's now 4.20pm and we still have four hours to go. I think I'll sleep very well tonight!) which is close to a hidden valley with villages and churches. The next day we will be in Cappadocia where I'll take a dawn balloon flight over the town, which has been carved from lava! Can't wait!
