Our stay in Taupo was brief, but interesting, none the less. So we got an early start from Marahau, to get to Picton intime for the morning Ferry over the waters to the North Island. After getting out of sleepy town we drove a good few hundred Km's to the Abel Tasman National Park. We stayed in a small town called Marahau, which literally only had 1 shop, 1 restaurant, 1 burger van, 1 kayak shop & a campsite! The Journey from Te Anau to Queenstown is pretty spectacular! Its farmland for a while then back to the crazy mountain ranges. Then all of a sudden to the side of the road appears a glorious blue lake, Lake Wakatipu. The road follows the side of the lake all the way into Queenstown, the road was more spectacular than the Great Ocean road!!
