Hey guys! So i just got back from Lagos, Portugal and had yet another amaaaaazing weekend!! The trips keep getting better and better and the "Dream team" (Susie, Perla, and I) are doing an excellent job at experiencing Europe, the right way! Over the past couple weekends I have begun to realize how amazing this time in my life is. After every trip I fall more in love with traveling. I have a huuuge list of more places that I want to visit, and places I want to revisit, and places I want to live in!! I know for a fact that after I graduate I want to move back to spain..or even portugal..or another country..who knows yet, but anyways I just want to teach english and live in another country for a year or so..maybe more!! The things you learn, see, and experience are incredible..but enough of my future dreams. Here's Portugal. First off, We were originally supposed to travel with ISA to lisboa, but then our friends Benni and Brian (they live in Sevilla) invited us to go to Lagos with them. Benni grew up in Lagos and has a house there... this was a very spur of the moment decision but we eventually decided to take up the offer to go to Lagos, Portugal with someone who was actually from portugal! from our recent experiences (like in Granada) this is by far the best and most memorable way to see a place!! Benni's parents own a recreation center, that they also live at, so we were able to stay the weekend there with them. It was fully equipped with beds for all of us, and their cook Tina, who is just an all around wonder worker! She made us an amazing breakfast both mornings! Omelletes, Potatoes, Bacon, and Toast! It was exactly what we had been craving. We went to the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. The weather was very windy but we managed to find an encoved private..nudey beach, away from the wind. We hiked up a cliff, for a little exploring and got an amazing view of the ocean. The boys took us to Cabo de Sao Vicente, which i s another cliff with amazing views, but the greatest part about this place was how strong the winds were! We were being blown left and right by the wind!! Everytime we jumped up we were thrown backwards 5 feet! (check out my video for some live footage! haha) after that little adventure, we went to Sagres to watch the sunset, again more windy, and even colder now but still gorgeous! That night we had a very classy dinner in Lagos for Benni's brothers birthday. I tried some amazing fish, and some portuguese wine. Very delicious! We then ventured to a town just outside of lagos, for some dancing! All in all it was a great night! Sunday was much nicer, and way less windy! The 5 of us..now named the Ultimate extreme dream team..laid on the beach for hours just conversating and enjoying the sun. The day couldnt have been anymore relaxing. It was perfecto. We really got to know eachother, and have made some great friends. It was such a great feeling to spend time in Portugal, knowing that I had relatives and family that used to live there. Portugal is a huge part of my heritage, and I was only able to see a little part of it, so I definitly want to make a trip back sometime soon!
Annd for some recent news.. I just thought I should tell you, I am soo glad I am staying with a host family. We had two amazing meals today! Salad which we NEVER get) and a rice with veggies and artichokes in it..delicious and finally something healthy! For dinner, we were expecting the usual..hotdogs and juevos smoothered in grease. But to our surprise we got patatas fritas and my favorite fish dish! Delicious once again. I'm really going to miss this cooking. Also highlight of my day: Exploring every floor of El Corte Ingles, looking for a new camera..that place has everything, even a hair salon, two restaurantes, a bakery.. You could honestly live in there for years and be perfectly content. On thursday morning we are heading to Paris!! and then Amsterdam!! and then Brussels! I can't wait to see what adventures lie ahead
Love All- Jenna
P.S. remember how i mentioned the nudey beach..well we actually did go topless for a bit..we had to it's a European thing!
