In Koh Phangan at the moment. Arrived on Thursday after a very choppy ferry ride early in the morning. Spent our last day on Koh Tao taking a longboat out to Nang Yuan which is an absolutely gorgeous little island sort of in two bits with a sandy beach connecting the parts. We snorkelled there and saw some very pretty, colourful and large fish. One was bigger than my head with eyes the size of ping pong balls! That night we had our last Koh Tao BBQ, a fave meal! So we arrived on Koh Phangan and were being hassled before we'd even got off the boat about ferries and hotels. I'd already got accomodation booked along with Jess and Jonny (who were arriving a little later) but Chris and Joe had 2 nights free before having to be in Haad Rin for the Full Moon. We grabbed some lunch and talked about where to head before finally getting a taxi south to Haad Rin. Again we're staying in a bungalow, very basic with just a fan and cold shower but clean enough. That night we grabbed some food and a few beers and met up with various people from other parts of the trip. It's another island of beach parties, fire dancing and here there's even foam and pool parties. I don't think you'd want to stay to long if it wasn't for the Full Moon and regulations on booking accomodation. We spent Friday on sunset beach and ducking in and out of shops to avoid the torrential downpour and then Saturday we split our time between Sunrise and Layla beach near where the other guys are staying. If you get away from all the bucket stalls and people the beaches can be amazing and the water's so warm. Todays been a bit of a right off due to another beach party session yesterday, got my first Thai massage mind - love a good back crack! We're all up for a quiet night tonight in preparation for tomorrows Full Moon. There probably won't be any photos to show as we've been told the safest bet is to take nothing but money and lock anything of value in reception. One of our friends has already had everything stolen out of his bag whilst in a taxi. After here I'm heading to Koh Samui for a couple of chilled nights by myself and then back up to Bangkok and on the Oz. Can't believe the first leg of my journey will be over in almost a weeks time!!!
Hand writing my diary hasn't been going so well, I'm so glad I've updated this regularly to keep in touch with everyone back home and as a record of my trip. Will be cool to get it printed as well!!
