Blogfans!!! Hows your Monday treating you?! Let me convey stories of hiking, bike riding and volcano viewing since our last update!!
So since we last spoke, Argentina have qualified for the 2010 World Cup, the lunatic Maradona will be marouding the South African touchlines next June, but honestly, id give Pompey a chance of beating that shower of a team, they are terrible at the moment, time to get down the bookies and get a tenner on them lifting the trophy next summer then.....
We also left you hanging onto a cliff wondering whether we´d be able to ski...............of course we didn´t, gutted.
Anyway.......Bariloche is a beautiful place, so many things to see and do, a ski resort in the winter and an activity fuelled summer destination for adreniline junkies.
Following our overnight bus from Puerto Madryn, with a terrible chick flick on display, we arrived at Hostel 41 Below and admired our lake facing bedroom before hiking up the side of a mountain for 20 minutes to take in one of the top ten views in the world (as voted for by National Geographic).
Great views of the lake below and it also allowed for a bit of team bonding with our new found Irish travel buddies Maeve and John!
We then followed that hike by a 30km bike ride around the lake, the bike shop man said this was the easy circuit, believe me, this was not easy!! Lots of pushing the bikes up hills and lots of cursing those oh so tasty BA steaks!! But finally some fitness work!!!
And there is more...if hiking and bike riding wasnt enough, the next day we then set out on a 5 hour hike through trees and slippery slopes to take in another breathtaking view of Bariloche (confirmed as one of the top ten views by these two travellers, sort it out National Geographic!!). The way down was a lot more hairy than the way up as we clung onto trees and skidded down in under half the time we took to get up!!
As seems to be traditional now before a long bus trip, our 7:30am bus trip to Puerto Varas in Chile was preceded by muchos beer-os and a 4:00am bed stop!! The cool travellers of Hostel 41 Below were far too engaging to turn down!!
So a brief pitstop here in Puerto Varas is where we are now, they have two volcanoes, apparently, but they are hiding today and we can only see the tip.
We head to Pucon in an hour, and to make up for us not being able to ski in Bariloche, im hoping to drag Jen up the side of a volcano and then push her down the snow at the top!!
Take care blogfans, till next time................xxx
