Today is our last day in New Zealand! Tomorrow we go to Sydney for a week and then we hit Asia...
When we left the Otago peninsula we went to Dunedin for lunch and then carried on up the east coast on our way to Christchurch. on the way we stopped to have a look at the Moetaki boulders- big round lumps of rock on a beautiful beach that look like a giant kid has thrown his marbles down. We would have liked to know more about them and how they got there but there wasn't any information.
We then carried on and stopped in Oamaru so that Charles could peer at some more classic cars. In the museum we also saw a tractor and caravan that had been around the world in a year- a Guiness record breaker! Back in the van until we stopped for the night in Ashburton on the coast in what appeared to be a camp for people with mental health issues- lots of shouting and strange behaviour.
We arrived in Christchurch yesterday to another day of pouring rain. The town itself is very pretty and seems to have a lot more history than any of the others we have been to. I visited an osteopath who was by far the strangest yet- she spent half an hour holding my head and telling me that my problems were because of bad relationships with my parents as well as describing a lot of her own therapy. Today we have been wandering around and went to a nice arts and crafts market where we bought some animals for the garden wall made out of copper- you can probably get them in the UK but they'll be a nice souvenir of our time here.
Anyway this evening we will be mucking out our van and trying to work towards getting our deposit back- Charles has managed to tarmac the lino from walking through it after being on a hot road so there will be scrubbing to be done there- tomorrow we will be sad to see the end of Bruce when we drop him off on the way to the airport! We rather wish we could just do the whole world in a camper as it is quite stressfull having to find places to stay wherever we are going...
