Very basic buildings, with tin roofs which meant that when it rained the noise on the roof was so loud it was impossible to teach. Dirt floors, basic benches-hardly an ideal learning environment. Little worms lcalled Jiggers live in the dirt, these then bury thenselves into the childrens feet which makes it sore and very hard to walk.
