So I arrive in Bangkok at 1am, and after a nerve wrecking taxi ride (my handbag in one hand and rape alarm in the other) I safely arrived at my hostel and realised I was paranoid unnecessarily. So the first and only girl in meet in my dorm in Charlotte from Texas. After getting to know each other we realise that we were planning on the same sort of route, but neither of us really had any fixed plans, except that Charlotte had a flight to Chiang Mai (the north) the next day. We arranged to meet back up there.
The next day, still in Bangkok, Charlotte and I visit the Phra Borom Maha Ratcha Wang (Grand Palace) and the Wat Pho (temple of reclining Buddha.) Both very, very beautiful places, however it was almost hard to concentrate in the horrid Bangkok humidity.
After saying bye to Charlotte I took a walk down Khao San Road. I wanted to experience it seen as this was my only night in Bangkok, and even though I was slightly apprehensive about being by myself there, I knew I had to see it once. I ended up meeting James and Nat, two very funny, very lovely Canadian guys. And whilst the rain started to pour down hard, we enjoyed it with Thai food and beers. Then we decided to go to a Bangkok club. Even though it was a dive, where your feet stick to the floor, we had a blast. It was so random but so much fun. The night ended with Thai street food, which was AMAZING!!!!!!
The next day the three of us hung out trying to get to a Hindu temple. I spoke to mum the night before and she said it was a religious day so if I could get to one it would be nice. However with all city traffic and humidity, I tried to get there but in the end gave up as my flight to Chiang Mai was in a few hours. Sorry mum.
So after several stuffy taxi rides and saying bye to my new Canadian buddies I managed to board my flight. Everyone said that I would really love or really hate Bangkok. I had a great time here, the city is so alive, plus I made three new friends there so what's not to like????????
