We left Propriano at 8 am and arrived in Calvi at 12 noon.On the way Paul spots lots of feeding fish on the surface, so we have a troll along the way, with no luck. We are sad to be leaving Italy. We have enjoyed the people, food, wine the countryside, history, architecture and art. We are impressed with the Italian agriculture and food production. We also love the stylish dress of the Italian people and the quality of the shops. We do not think we did Sardinia justice. As the last three weeks of our Mediterranean odyssey are coming to a close, we head straight down to the Costa Smerelda in Sardinia, to pick up chris and Wendy Connell, who flew into Olbia from Greece. We left Malta late Monday the 10th to cruise overnight to Marsala, on the west coast of Sicily. As soon as we checked into customs, we then left for the island 'Favignana'. This is the largest of the Egadi islands. It is only 10 nautical miles from Marsala and it takes one hour to cross. This island is barren and flat, with a mountain range dissecting it in the middle. We left from Pozzallo Sicily, by fast ferry to Valletta the capital of Malta. It was a 1.5 hour trip. The approach to this fortress town is dramatic. The history of this island is very complex as it was coveted by so many Mediterranean countries. We had dinner at a great restaurant 'Barracoota' overlooking one of the many harbours.
