I've gone quite some time now without a proper update. And my sister was bugging me over Skype to get it dealt with (I was listening). The weather's just been so bloody hot! We get back in the evening from being out all day and any further movement is just out of the question. So we're sitting in our next train after Krakow now and I'm gonna start by finishing off with Prague and Czech. What I can remember of it at least :p
We did manage to get a night of drinking in. Checked out two nightclubs. Lots of local people in the first, but the music was a bit pants. Euro-dance stuff. The next one was playing hip-hop all night and the drinks cost twice as much! So we kind of went back and forth between the two and got fairly drunk. Bonus was that the hostel was right down the road, it took 2 minutes to get back. Katie managed to get rid of a fairly intense case of the hiccups on the way.
After that we had a lazy day and sorted out what we'd do next. Therewas a brochure for a place called Kutna Hora which stood out. You'll see the pics. There is a chapel there full of bones piled up and arranged into decorations and such.
The story was that they had to exhume graves to make way for more burials. I think it's a pretty common story for graveyards all over Europe. What apparently happened with this place though is that a half-blind monk began to pile all the bones up in the church. Years later the lord of the area got tired of seeing these bones (of an estimated 30,000-70,000 bodies) and ordered a local carpenter to sort them out. You see the results.
The chapel came before the town itself so we took a walk in afterwards. It was initially very disappointing. Compared to places we'd been already at least. It reminded me of Dingwall a little. Just kind of a tired looking place. Once we discovered the old area though it got beautiful. Another massive Cathedral and a lovely little river. Turns out the country's first coin mint was set up here and it became Prague's second most important city for a while.
This pretty much does it for Prague and the Czech Republic. We saw a random bike festival type thingy. We also saw a huge political demonstration against the current government. That was quite exciting. We've come across a lot of randomness like that while travelling, which is pretty cool. Goes to show that you just gotta get yourself out there. Sometimes even get yourself off the tourist tracks and explore different parts of the cities that you visit.
I'll try and get our Krakow update as done as soon as possible. We're already loving Budapest and I really don't want to fall behind too far with this. Want to slot in some facts in these things too. But at this rate, it just aint gonna work. And its May festival here now too. Sounds banging! Maybe we won't get too pulled in…

Ailsa Hiya! Nice to get some more words to go with the pictures! The bones place looks beautiful, but a bit spooky? You're right about keeping on top of the blogging, if you fall behind you'll never catch up...I've got a lifetime of that! xxx
