This morning we set off early with Khosro's nephew to Persepolis, a place I've always dreamed of visiting. It was really incredible to wander around such an ancient historical site. Ebi and our tour guide, Khosro had never been before and both were filled with a deep sense of pride. Khosro was even in tears!
Unfortunately, I don't have much time to write about the history of Persepolis so you can find out more information here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persepolis. I also found a great website, recommended in the guide book which has information about each section and 3D reconstructions of what it perhaps looked like at the time: http://www.persepolis3d.com/.
I have only uploaded a couple of my own photos as the internet speed in this cafe is pretty slow and it's taken a long time to upload the photos from yesterday. Tonight we are travelling to Esfahan, so hopefully I'll be able to find a place with decent internet speed and upload more photos in the next couple of days.

Fiona Your photos are amazing Jenny! The buildings are so ornate and beautiful in their design - I had not appreciated how intricate the designs would be. I also love some of the gardens with their beautiful flowers. James, the boys and myself are all following your blog and check it each day to see if you have had a chance to add more photos. Still awaiting those wedding photos though.........
Janet I am so enjoying your travels and pictures!! Someday I hope we can go to Iran again. Enjoy your adventures there!
Jenny The wedding photos will be coming soon hopefully! The girl who took them was editing everything and putting it on to a CD, so when we get back to Abadan, hopefully I will get them tomorrow.
