Hey all we are in Brisbane at the moment, meeting Sarah's cousin Bradley tonight and some of the girls we have met on our travels so far so I am predicting a drunken night ahead! We arrived in Brisbane yesterdat lunchtime and just chilled last night got some dinner and chatted to out room mate - crazy night lol. Before we got here we had been in Rainbow Beach to go over to Fraser Island. The three days we had on the island were the best part of Australia yet it was amazing and the sun managed to shine for nearly the whole time which at the moment is a bit of a miracle out here. We had to be up early to leave for Fraser to pack up the car and as me and Sarah have left our driving licences at home we had to go in a guide's car. When we got there we headed to Lake Mackenzie, it took about 2 hours all on and tracks as there are no roads, to say the ride was a bumpy one was an understatement it was the worst drive ever but very pretty at the same time. A lot of the other cars got stuck as they all had backpackers driving that didnt have a clue what they were doing most of the time. When we got there we had lunch and wandered down to the lake which was amazing the nicest thing i have ever seen, it is freshwater so we were able to swim without the threat of getting eaten by sharks or chocs which was a nice change. From here we headed straight to camp where we had to build out tents and then cook dinner for 7 people on a camping stove, steak dinner the first night and chicken stirfry the second and it was a lot nicer than expected! The camp was very basic no showers and when you wanted to go to toilet you had to dig a half a metre hole to go in so the dingo's couldnt get hold of your scent and go with at least one other person so you remained dingo safe!!! The second day we were awake at 6am thanks to the sun making the tent boiling. We left camp and made our way to the Champagne pool which are naturally formed rock pools and form there took a miniture trek up the cliff to see the views from Indian Head. This is the largest headland on the island and gives lovely views back over the sand dunes that make up the island. From here we made lunch and then headed down to the Moreno shipwreck for a few photos and then off to Eli Creek for a quick swim before going back to camp before we got stuck on the beach with the incoming tides. The seconds night me and Sarah crossed into enemy territory to see some friends that had arrived that day, we had a few drinking games and then returned for an early-ish night before out last day. The final day took us to Lake Wabby which was a 40min walk away at the bottom of a 100m sandblow, the lake is also freshwater but look more like a pond as its bright green. After here we headed back to the mainland and finished our trip, we had a final night in Rainbow Beach which was spent drinking with some friends who were off to Fraser in the morning, and we caught the bus the next day and ended up in Brisbane which is where we are now!!! Speak to you all soon loads love to everyone xxxx
