I apologize I've got to the stage where I'm now a country behind on my blogging, and it feels like a bit of mountain, but here we go.
Don't let the picture fall you, this was a very dull day.
We were moving on from Don Det our last stop in Laos, moving South in to Cambodia, aiming for Ban Lung, under the suggestion of an alcohol fueled American!! However it turned out it was much more expensive to travel straight to Ban Lung, instead of stoping in the border town of Stung Treng. We planned to get another bus straight out of Stung Treng, but on arrival after two buses and two boat journeys, it turned out the next bus was the next morning, and that we would have to spend the day and night in Stung Treng. It wasn't the best introduction to Cambodia for myself, it was the dirtiest place we've been yet, there was nothing of interest here, except for the the bridge under construction from funding from the Chinese, which looks like it might be half decent when finished!!!
Jade and Linnea slept for the majority of the day after such an early start, I sat and read while talking to a Dutch girl call Kim, who was slightly weird, I think partly because she didn't understand everything I said, esspeically sarcasm. I also had a walk around the small market and along the river, sitting at each end of the paved side walk (I use the American term, so that I didn't say paved pavement, which sounds weird!!) reading my book and getting attacked by the sun and small spiders. This is the first place where I have felt that I am a real real outsider being white, literally everybody staired(not sure of the correct term/spelling).
That night while sat around with a few guys off of the bus with us, an American guy named Mike introduced himself to Linnea and Jade, I think when he found out I was with them he was slightly dissapointted!! But we had a walk around with him (a teacher, but former worker on Wall Street). Theres something about him that none of liked but we couldn't quite work it out, I think it maybe that he has about 7 different personalities. Anyway that night he decided he would come to Ban Lung with us the next morning, I m ust also mention we all kind of liked him and disliked him in the same!!
Fairly early night after paying cards with kim, Mike and two Aussie guys off the bus.
OOhh and the photo was just a random selection
