Hawaii was awesome, I recommend it to anyone thinking of going there. I stayed in Waikiki Beach on Lemon Rd, which is full of hostels and around the corner from the beach. The hostel was really good except you had to be silent after 11pm. The people there are really friendly and always keen for a drink. On my first day I got there early in the day and just walked around to check out the city, it's pretty easy to work out, there's a big beach and the next three streets are full of shops then after that hotels, apartments and eventually houses. After I had a look around and visited the Ferrari shop and got something to eat, it was about evening time and I was heading back to the hostel not really knowing what to do because I didn't know anyone and it was my first day. As I walked in the gate there are people just kicking back drinking beers and I started talking to them and it turned out to be a pretty cool night. The next day I went to the beach and went for a swim, the beach is nice and they have put up some barriers in some parts to stop the waves so kids can swim. I went down near the end of Waikiki and there were a few rocks about once you get in the water but if your get out to about chest height it clears up. That night was movie night at the hostel and we watched a surfing movie, it was actually pretty interesting after that we went back to the kitchen and drank beers with a few of the other guests, there were a couple of English guys who were just making their way around the US, Nick a guy from Canada who had come down to check out the surf and Amosh a dude from Afghanistan who now lives in London. The next day I went on a 'hike' up Diamond Head crater, a crater that overlooks the city, it really just a long walk and not much of a hike. There are some photos of the view from the top attached. That night we went out to a club with a heap of people from the hostel, vodka, rum and tequila $1.00 each. It was a pretty good night but I had to leave early so I could catch my bus to the airport. Over all I loved Hawaii and can't wait to go back
