Arrived Vienna airport at around 5pm. Took about half an hour for the bike boxes to appear and another half hour to reassemble them and get going.
Vienna airport is unusual in that Arrival and Departure passengers share the same space.
It was 12k to the hotel that we’d prebooked; the Arion Airport Hotel.
Checked in, quick beer then off to look for some food.
There was a bit of rain in the air but it didn’t come to much. Quite warm tho.
Not a lot going on in the southern Viennese suburb of Schwechat. But, after a 20m walk, found a tiny pizza place (Pizzeria Rialto). It was the only place doing food on the local high street. Not really a restaurant, more a place from which deliveries were going out but there were a couple of tables inside. The little moustachioed chef (Turkish, I’d guess) made one of the best pizzas I’d had for ages.
Tomorrow, after (hopefully) finding a bike shop to get some ‘proper’ pressure in our tyres (that, of course, had to be deflated for the flight), we’ll head off though Vienna, cross the Danube and then head north to the Czech border.
