Well I'm heading out of Bangkok now, kinda relieved by the whole idea of leaving Bangkok. My general feeling of Bangkok is that you really have to be on your guard with just about everything. The taxi's have to be the worst to deal with, because you never know if your being treat fairly or if, because your a tourist, your going to get taken advantage of. And what makes it hardest, is that your battling for pennies. The difference between 100 baht and 150 baht, is like a $1.25 cdn. So with that you tend to be just like, "f*** it" and just pay it. With that being said, it still plays on your emotions when it continually happens to you.
Anyways, yesterday we went to the grand palace, or as I called Donald Trumps summer house. Thai people sure love their gold, every building at the palace had gold leaf over everything. So if your looking at my pictures, if you see yellow, that is all gold leaf. How do you say " bling bling" in Thai.
That night, we had a big group dinner at this amazing restaurant. While it took a few headaches with taxis getting lost we all managed to have a good meal, while being surrounded by an esthetically pleasing surrounding. The whole restaurant was on stilts surrounded on every side with ponds and water fountains. Couple that With it being night time with live music and candles for lighting and it was quite beautiful. (please spare the gay jokes on that one friends).
After dinner Rob and First (first is robs fiancée's nickname) said we were going to go to a roof top lookout for a drink. So all of us thought nothing of it, however, when we got there it turns out this same rooftop was the one they used for the movie "Hangover 2". So that was just about amazing in itself, but that pales in comparison to the view itself. It was nuts, here we are 64 stories up and the railings are only at chest level. You could literally lean over the edge with full beer in hand 64 stories up. Now compare that to anything in Canada, let alone North America, and you easily have a 10-12 foot (at least) high fence in front of you. And with a 360 degree view of the Bangkok skyline to look at, it was easily my favorite thing so far.
Anyways off to Koh Samet for 3 days. Talk to you tomorrow.
