Yesterday we took a walk in the rainforest, and thankfully the rain actually held off for us! Though it had been raining the night before so we were walking in mud about a foot deep!! We had to go back to San Jose to get our bus to Tortuguero. We arrived back there yesterday afternoon, and our hostel (Pangea) took us a bit by surprise! Our taxi dropped us off outside what looked like a little prison! Instead of a nice entrance, the hostel had a large solid metal gate/wall covering the front and on top of it was spiral barbed wire!! Yesterday we went back up to the volcano in the hope that we might see something for the 2nd time! We sat with our eyes glued to the volcano from about 3pm until 6:30pm, but mother nature was not playing ball and no matter how hard we willed the clouds to move, they were firmly set where they were, so no lava this time. We left at the crack of dawn from Quepos on Xmas eve to get the local bus up to Uvita, which had it´s own version of "air-conditioning" which meant the doors were left open the whole way, which was a good thing too as the aisles were packed so it was going to get very stuffy.
